A graduate from Portland High School in Portland, Indiana, Angela received her BS in Visual Communications from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She earned her Master of Arts in Photography from the University of Saint Francis in 2009. A member of the Holy Cross Lutheran church since 1995, Angela’s love for God is reflected in her work.
At an early age, I was awakened to the knowledge of being an artist, and knew it was God who put this desire in my heart. In Philippians God gives counsel on how we are to direct our thoughts, ” Whatsoever things are true, honest, pure, and lovely, if there be any virtue or any praise, think on these things.” This insightful scripture summarizes and captivates my creative spirit. Alfred Stieglitz, the Secession and f.64 groups of the modernist movement in American photography often used the words “pure, true, and honest,” to describe their works of “straight” photography. I am inspired by their reverence for the spiritual essence of God’s creations.
